Other Issues
Some other issues with the example program
which the validator will not detect:
-
The target information component does not give the standard name
for the target object.
We should give a more useful name
and then use the MSB titles to include identifying information for ourselves.
-
Rather than separately specifying coordinates
for ‘field 6’ and ‘field 7’
of our source,
we can give a single set of coordinates at the top of the program
(giving the central position)
and then use offset iterators to specify the relative position
of each observing field.
-
The SCUBA-2 MSB does not include a “DRRecipe” component.
(Only strictly necessary if we do not want to use the
default REDUCE_SCAN recipe.)
-
Converting the “Het Setup” from RxA3m to ʻŪʻū
does not make best use of the instrument.
We can simultaneously observe another line without
a loss of spectral resolution.
-
The jiggle map MSB is very short at 8 minutes log.
This will cause a lot of time to be wasted in the overheads
at the start and end of each repeat.
It would be better to increase the sample time
to 40 seconds per position and then decrease the repeat count from 20 to 5.
-
Once we have corrected the timing for the first MSB
(observe MSB 10× rather than a 10× repeat iterator),
both MSBs have an unnecessary repeat 1× iterator — these can be removed.
