The papers listed below are the most-highly-cited publications from each of the observatory’s 27 years, plus a few others to ensure that all of the highest-impact results are included. This list was originally assembled in commemoration of the JCMT’s 21st anniversary on 27th April, 2008, and updated in 2015.
The results make compelling reading: the JCMT has broken new astronomical ground by exploring the submillimetre spectral region for the first time, and several of these papers have become truly seminal in the field.
